I am imagining constructing an outdoor structure / platform with a wall or two the size of a small room (maybe bigger) which would house a range of activities, including noise making, food fights, water play, dressing up, shadow theater etc... The structure could change on a daily basis and be in use throughout our stay and could perhaps be left for others when we leave. I like the idea of using what is at hand around the house and the local area to construct the house, but perhaps we could bring or order a few things in advance such as 2" x 2"s, a roll of paper, plaster, concrete, clay, chicken wire...
Forgot to mention the inclusion of mechanical devices. The one man band idea of pulling a string and then something happens. Would be nice to include, but not sure if it will be too much? Could be fun though and Vita would like it too.
ReplyDeleteIn general I think this is a good idea. For practical reasons I think we probably need to add a roof of sorts, just so things can be left out and the structure can be used in rain. I like the idea of adapting the structure on a daily basis depending on the activities taking place in it. I would, however, like to build on the one-man-band idea and have pots, pans, glass bottles, vacuum cleaners, real instruments and other noise making equipment in there structured in a way so that a few people at a time could play them in unison. Would be nice adding some handles pedals, pulleys etc. to be able to play multiple "instruments" at the same time. For this we would need some rope, pulleys and maybe some drum pedals if possible. Most other things like handles and such could be improvised on the spot. I assume that Jason is bringing recording equipment so we could record some sessions if we decide to go ahead with it.
